Supporting Foster Parents through Community Partnerships
The Foster Family Care Network is a terrific group of families who open
their homes and hearts to children with special needs. Thanks to our community
partners we are able to support our foster families in a many ways.
Respite care. This year the Foster Family Care Network
has been the recipient of $14,900 grant from the Meyer Memorial Trust
to provide respite care to our foster families. Some 362 days of relief
care was given to our families. Some of the ways included emergency respite
to visit a sick mother, respite for a foster parent who broke her leg,
support for a single foster parent who wanted to take classes, and summer
camps for foster children.
Safety items. The Spirit Mountain Community Fund has
allocated $2,500 to the Network to help foster parents purchase safety
items and to reimburse foster parents for CPR and other safety classes.
Sleep Country. The Foster Family Care Network is a proud
Oregon partner with Sleep Country USA. Throughout the year, the Network’s
foster children receive a variety of items including school supplies,
shoes, clothing and Christmas gifts. During the Sleep Country Pajama Bowl
this May, more than $4,600 was raised for the Network. This money will
be used for special events and extras for the Network’s foster children.
